Holly Marie Combs is getting behind the long-standing rumor that Alyssa Milano got Shannen Doherty fired from “Charmed.”
Combs, 50, appeared on Doherty’s “Let’s Be Clear” podcast on Monday where she recalled questioning the show’s producer Jonathan Levin about why Doherty, now 52, was being axed from the hit drama.
“He said, ‘We didn’t mean to — but we’ve been backed into this corner — we’re basically in this position where it’s one or the other,’” Combs recalled Levin’s explanation.
“‘We were told [by Alyssa] it’s her or [Shannen] and Alyssa has threatened to sue us for a hostile workplace environment.’”
“Charmed” ran on the WB from 1998 to 2006, but Doherty was let go at the end of its third season. The “Beverly Hills, 90210” alum was replaced by Rose McGowan’s character, Paige.
Combs further alleged that Milano, 50, had previously spoken with a human resources staff member to build her case against her co-stars and had allegedly “documented every time she felt uncomfortable on set.”
Both women agreed the tension between them and Milano happened “in the trailer” and never in front of the crew or special guest stars. They also claimed the women never exchanged any “harsh words” or got into any public “brawls.”
“So by today’s standards, it [Doherty’s firing] wouldn’t f – – king fly,” Combs claimed.
“There are men that, you know — people throw things, screaming fits and get away with it. I don’t think people understand that that never happened here,” she added. “Unless you were there, no one understands that.”
The Post has contacted reps for Milano and Levin for comment.
Combs and Doherty further claimed they “refused” to talk to the HR rep, but Combs then tried to give producers an ultimatum of her own.
“This is not a show I wanted to do without Shannen. She didn’t want to do it without me. Therefore, I don’t want to do it without her and that should be fairly clear,” she remembered telling Levin.
But she claims Levin responded to her request by threatening to sue her if she left the show, which Combs said “felt like blackmail.”
Last week on Doherty’s podcast, she claimed Milano and her mother, Lin, stopped her from visiting Combs in the hospital after she had a tumor removed from her uterus.
Alyssa has yet to comment on Doherty’s remarks, but Lin has since spoken out, claiming her story was categorically false.
