He is a boxing promoter, lawyer and businessman, and all these activities have added significant sums to the total size of Bob Arum’s net worth. Top Rank Company, which promotes professional boxing, was founded by him; at present, he is the CEO of the company. Prior to this, he was employed at the US Attorney’s Office in New York, in the division of taxes.

Bob Arum was raised in an Orthodox Jewish household based in the Crown Heights, New York. While studying at high school he was highly interested in music, and sang as a backing vocalist. He was impressed by the abilities of Manny Pacquiao and stated him to be the Filipino Frank Sinatra. However, after graduating from high school he chose to study law, graduating with a degree in law from Harvard University, and then working for several years in the USA Department of Justice before he became interested in boxing in the 1970s. He used his business education to become a boxing promoter in 1979, which subsequently added huge sums to the overall size of Bob Arum’s net worth. Working as a boxing promoter gained him not only wealth but also popularity.

However, the path to fortune and fame was not an easy one, as during the eighties Arum had a great rivalry with fellow promoter Don King, and both promoted big fights in the eighties and nineties as they promoted Sugar Ray Leonard against Marvin Hagler, three fights between Thomas Hearns and Marvin Hagler, pitting Roberto Duran against Sugar Ray Leonard, two fights between Roberto Duran and Marvin Hagler, fights between Julio Cesar Chavez, Meldrick Taylor and Hector Camacho, as well as between Oscar De La Hoya and Felix Trinidad. He was the promoter of such fights as Evander Holyfield and George Foreman, Oscar De La Hoya and Fernando Vargas, the three fights between Manny Pacquiao and Erik Morales, as well as three fights between Marco A. Barrera and Erik Morales. His company is called promoter Top Rank, and fights are often held in Las Vegas. For his great contribution to boxing, Bob Arum has been inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
